I’ve always liked Toyota Venzas, they look fantastic in root beer brown.

The Hyundai Buick is a really nice mile devourer that everyone assumes is a Sonata.

Ive had a Kia Soul as a rental for 2 weeks, when I was in the US. I dont know if it really counts as a ‘beige mobile’, but I really, really loved it for what it was. It might have too much ‘style’ to be a proper ‘beige mobile’, if thats the case....I dont really have any other choices...dont drive that much ‘beige mobiles’....

Underneath the shell it’s an Accent or Elantra or something, isn’t it? It’s like someone who traded in their beige khakis for some fashion sense. Whether that fashion is to everyone’s taste is a different matter, but from a style standpoint, I wouldn’t consider it “beige.”

Thats exactly the reason why I started doubting as I wrote my text. Sitting in it feels beige though, theres no real ‘WAUW, IM IN A SOUL’ type of feeling that it creates, from the outside, you are right, it doesn’t look bad or boring at all.

Please don’t start a beige-mobile theme day...

Anyhow...these things are more common than Corollas in my area.

Kia really blueballed us with the Trackster Concept. I think that’s one where you’d have thought, “WOW, MUCH SOUL.”
If this hatch was available, I would have gotten it over the Forte5 SX that I bought. At least they’re a step closer now that they took the 200hp 1.6T from the Veloster/Forte SX cars and put it in the 2017 Soul.

The Kia Soul looks so good. Can’t really call it beige.

I prefer neon beige.

Unpopular Opinion - Since you can’t buy a new 1st gen Honda Insight, I like this little guy:

Hmm, I would not have minded a Trackster as a rental..:p...
I had to look up the Forte5, I think that would be like a Cee’d here in Holland, looks like a great little car. That engine must be a happy little camper under the hood?

It’s too “in your face” to be beige.

Does Forest count as a beigemobile?

That’s a horrible picture though. The grey and the chrome blend at exactly the wrong spot and make it look like someone is giving it a reverse face wedgie.

could be my kind of theme day

I looked it up, and the C’eed is basically the same thing - I’m having a hard time finding the differences. Apparently in some markets they sell both the Forte and the C’eed.
The 1.6T is very peppy - from a purely practical standpoint, the engine is more than enough power for everyday use. It’s 200hp on the higher-end of RPMs but you get around 200 lb-ft torque right at 1750RPM, so it builds speed quickly whenever you put your foot down.
I went from a car which had about 110hp/100lb-ft (it was a ‘09 Hyundai Accent) which was mostly at the middle to top end of the RPM range to this car which is basically double the power in a much more usable range. The old car needed to be revved so much to make any power, but in this I can cruise around at 2000rpm and there’s always plenty more power available.
TL;DR: it’s a strong engine but still practical for day to day use.

When we wanted to replace my wife’s total lemon POS 2006 Chevy Malibu in the fall of 2012, I looked at used Venzas. Totally would’ve bought one, too, if they weren’t so damn expensive. That Toyota resale value, though.
As far as my favorite beige mobile, does the Cadillac SRX count? My grandmother has a pearl white 2012 SRX with around 41,000 miles on it and I love driving it. So smooth.

...that’s a 320i xDrive though. You can’t get the Jalopnik Edition up here in Canada, it’s not available in RWD and 6MT.

Fact, but Kia’s styling puts it decidedly in non-beigedom.
